ADAS Calibration in Tulsa, OK

Keep lane-keep assist, automatic braking and adaptive cruise working correctly after a new windshield.

What Is ADAS?

ADAS stands for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems. On most late-model cars, trucks and SUVs, a camera mounted behind the windshield near the rearview mirror watches the road ahead and feeds safety features like lane-keep assist and automatic emergency braking.

When the windshield is replaced, that camera is removed and reinstalled on new glass. Even a tiny change in angle can shift where the camera "thinks" the lane lines and other cars are — which is why manufacturers call for recalibration after a windshield replacement.

Systems That Use the Windshield

  • Lane departure warning & lane-keep assistReads lane markings through the windshield camera.
  • Automatic emergency brakingDetects vehicles and pedestrians ahead and can brake for you.
  • Adaptive cruise controlHolds a set following distance to the vehicle ahead.
  • Traffic sign recognitionReads speed limit and other signs.
  • Automatic high beamsDims headlights for oncoming traffic.
  • Rain-sensing wipersSensors mounted on the glass that need correct seating.

Static vs. Dynamic Calibration

Static

The vehicle is parked on a level surface in front of targets placed at exact distances and heights. A scan tool tells the camera to look at the targets and reset its aim.

Dynamic

The vehicle is driven at specified speeds on roads with clear lane markings while the camera relearns. Weather and road conditions matter, so timing can vary.

Some vehicles need one method, some need both. The manufacturer's procedure decides — not us.

How We Handle Calibration

  1. 1

    Vehicle check

We look up your VIN to see which driver-assist features your car has and what the manufacturer requires after a windshield replacement.

  2. 2

    Correct glass

We match the windshield to your camera bracket and sensor options so the camera sits where it was designed to.

  3. 3

    Pre-scan

The vehicle is scanned for existing fault codes before work begins.

  4. 4

    Calibration

Static, dynamic or both — following the manufacturer procedure for your vehicle.

  5. 5

    Verification

A post-scan confirms the system is calibrated and no fault codes remain.

ADAS Calibration FAQs

Does my car need ADAS calibration after a windshield replacement?

If your vehicle has a forward-facing camera mounted behind the windshield (usually near the rearview mirror) for lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking or adaptive cruise control, the manufacturer typically calls for the camera to be recalibrated after the windshield is replaced. We check your exact vehicle when you request a quote.

What happens if the camera is not recalibrated?

A camera that is aimed even slightly off can misjudge lane lines and the distance to vehicles ahead. That can cause false warnings, systems that switch themselves off, or safety features that do not respond when they should.

What is the difference between static and dynamic calibration?

Static calibration is done with the vehicle parked in front of precisely positioned targets. Dynamic calibration is done by driving the vehicle at set speeds on well-marked roads while a scan tool guides the camera through its relearn. Some vehicles require one, some require both — the manufacturer decides.

How long does ADAS calibration take?

It depends on the vehicle and the type of calibration. Many calibrations take roughly 30 minutes to an hour on top of the windshield replacement. We will give you a time estimate with your quote.

Will insurance pay for ADAS calibration?

When a windshield replacement is covered by your comprehensive coverage, the calibration the manufacturer requires is usually treated as part of the same claim. Coverage varies by policy, so we recommend confirming with your insurer — we are happy to help with the paperwork.
